Renovation

New home
New home builders tend to specialise in this type of job, and could also be a volume builder with a house and land package. House and land packages are where you get to choose slight variations on a standard house design. A custom new home is where you work with an architect to develop the plans and design, and take these for builders to tender on. This is the best to get all the features you want in a home, though you have to budget for this privilege.
General building work
A licensed builder can carry out general building work, including bathroom, kitchen or laundry renovations, home extensions and loft conversions - just to name a few. They’ll also employ contractors who work for him either permanently or on a project basis. It is illegal for anyone who is unlicensed to carry out any structural building works, due to the health and safety implications.
