What does a Glass glazier do?
Glaziers work with glass, stalling glass in new homes, cutting replacement glass and glass used in kitchen splashbacks. They will need to visit your home to take accurate measurements. Once the dimensions are taken, the glass is cut to the precise size at the factory and then transported to your property for fitting. If you are thinking of installing a glass splashback in your kitchen, it needs to meet Australian Standard AS/NZS 5601, and be toughened safety glass with a minimum thickness of 5mm. This ensures it can withstand the heat from the cooking hob, as well as an exposed gas flame. It also needs to be 200mm from the glass to the flame, or 50mm if it is an electric or induction hob. In terms of the height of your glass splashback, it needs to be 600mm, which is also the standard height of cabinetry.
