The good news is that fly screen repairs are often a quick, same-day job that will ensure tears, mould, rust, bent or broken screens, and remeshing are all taken care of.

There are plenty of fly screen brands and suppliers in Australia, and different products will meet different needs. For example, are you just looking for a high-quality mesh to keep out bugs during the summer months? Or do you need something sturdier that is both child-proof and pet-proof? Your fly screen installer will be able to fix your fly screens on-site and even customise new screens to the size of your existing door or window frame.
Install flyscreen windows
If you are getting a new fly screen entirely, an installer will measure the width and height of your window, and then come out to install the screen at your home. However, you may want them to re-mesh an existing screen, in which case they will usually quote for the job and then complete the re-meshing on-site. While different-sized windows require different steps for fly screen installations, your tradie will generally remove the frame, lay the new fly screen mesh onto it, and then lock it into place before reinstalling the window frame.
Install flyscreen doors
Installing a fly screen door follows a similar process to fly screen window installations, although they may take longer as the frame and amount of mesh required are larger. You can expect your installer to remove the door frame initially and then lay it flat before rolling out your chosen fly screen mesh. The mesh is then secured around the door frame’s edges, trimmed and then the frame re-fitted. Whether it’s a window or door you are getting installed, there are various mesh options – from low-cost fibreglass right through to aluminium mesh and even one-way mesh which is great for privacy.
Install Retractable Screens
Depending on where you live around Australia, flies and other bugs may only be a nuisance during the warmer summer months. So having a flyscreen permanently installed on your windows, or having to constantly open and shut your fly screen door even during winter can be a hassle. That’s why many fly screen installers have the option of retractable fly screens. You can easily retract the screen partially or fully whenever you don’t need it, and this type of screen can be designed to suit any type of window or door.
