Carpet laying
Your carpet supplier may also take care of the fitting, but otherwise you'll need to contact a professional installer. They will ensure the carpet is laid as efficiently as possible, minimising wasted material and the number of joins and seams. After laying, they will also make sure the surface is flat and free from wrinkles.
Carpet laying is normally charged by the square metre. Your carpet installer will need to take measurements of your floors before they can give you an accurate quote.
Carpeting stairs
Carpeting can reduce noise and slips on stairs, but laying carpet on stairs is challenging. An experienced installer will ensure the carpet is laid evenly and without any creases or bulges that could be a tripping hazard.

Restretching services involve taking up the carpet at the edges and refitting it so it lies completely flat again. A restretch can often extend the life of a carpet by five years or more.
Carpet repairs
Carpets can become worn or damaged over time, especially in high traffic areas. Whether the carpet is stretched, torn, burnt or stained, it may be possible to repair the damaged section rather than having to replace the whole carpet.
Carpet installers can repair carpets using techniques such as restretching, spot dyeing to restore lost colour, or by removing and replacing damaged sections with matching offcuts.
Carpet overlocking
Most carpeting jobs have some offcuts left over afterwards. While these can be useful if repairs are needed in the future, or can make basic rugs for pets, your carpet installer can increase their usefulness and avoid them going to waste through the process of overlocking.
Carpet overlocking involves neatly trimming the edges of carpet offcuts and adding a new border to create attractive and functional mats and rugs in various sizes. These will normally be ready in a matter of days to complement your new carpeting.
